Due to a vacancy at a sales office in the countryside, I was suddenly assigned to a solo posting. As we were newlyweds, my wife strongly opposed it, but there was nothing I could do. The assignment location turned out to be even more remote than I expected… there wasn’t even a convenience store nearby. Amid the unfamiliar rural life, the only thing that became my emotional support was Haruka-san, the landlord’s wife who managed the apartment where I was staying.
