Late 2000s. Fifteen-year-old Kira doesn’t come home after a friend’s birthday and starts saving to leave her town—away from a household where adults lay down rules they can’t follow themselves. She and her friend earn money by giving children pony rides and setting it aside for the trip. But the dream of a new life comes with consequences: Kira is reported missing, the police get involved, and her mother will do anything to regain control.
