"The Candidate" is a sports drama about a university chess player (Taishan) defending his spot in the team against a higher rated junior opponent (Schwaas). Taishan must rise above mind games, challenge the arrogant Schwaas and prepare for a final, dramatic showdown that will determine who gets to represent the chess team in university tournaments.
