Leipzig, 1747. Handel, the darling of the public and the powerful, invites Bach, the cantor of St. Thomas Church and the father of twenty children, who has just been admitted to the “Society of Musical Sciences,” to dinner at a hotel. The aggressive tone of the first minutes of this meeting grows into mutual understanding between two aging and increasingly blind composers — wise, lonely, and equally unhappy.
