Dinesh Sudarshan Soi is an Indian screenwriter, director, producer, entrepreneur and renowned former casting director who has made a significant impact on the Indian entertainment industry through his diverse creative contributions and visionary storytelling. Born on May 17, 1984, in Kalanaur, Punjab, Dinesh possesses strong academic credentials, including ACCA (I) from the United Kingdom, an M.Com, and an MBA in Marketing. Before entering the entertainment industry, he served as a professor in S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali), Punjab. However, his passion for storytelling and cinema led him to pursue a creative career. Dinesh began his journey as a director of music videos and quickly gained recognition for his distinctive visual style and emotional depth. He has directed over 100 music videos, many of which achieved millions of views and trended on YouTube. Among his most notable works are Yeh Galiyan Yeh Chaubara, featuring veteran actress Padmini Kolhapure, and Baarish, starring Pranutan Bahl, both widely appreciated for their storytelling and cinematic presentation. Expanding beyond music videos, Dinesh transitioned successfully into fiction filmmaking. His first English short film as writer, director, and producer, Lights, Camera, Lies, starring Karishma Lala Sharma, was released on July 1, 2025, on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV. His second short film, The Water Kingdom, starring Rahul Dev, was released on January 16, 2026, on Apple TV and YouTube Movies (Google Play). The film received widespread appreciation for its powerful message encouraging coexistence between humans and nature. He made his theatrical feature film debut as Creative Producer with Vellapanti. He also served as Creative Director on the patriotic drama Ram Mohammad Singh Azad. As a writer, director, and producer, he is currently working on the satire comedy feature film Bombay Cafe, with his next feature film Dhaula Kuan scheduled to begin production in April 2026. Before becoming a filmmaker, Dinesh achieved extraordinary success as a casting director. He holds records in both the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records for casting the maximum number of projects, with over 4500 casting credits to his name. His contributions to cinema were globally recognized when he received the IMDb Top Contributor Trophy from IMDb founder and CEO Col Needham, making him the only Indian director to receive this honor. In addition to filmmaking, Dinesh is a successful entrepreneur and the founder of DS Creations, a multifaceted brand encompassing film production, music, casting, media, marketing, and digital ventures. He also serves as the National Working President of Shree Bhartiya Janta TV & Cine Kaamgar Sangh, a prominent association affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). On the personal front, Dinesh is married to Sonia Malhotra Soi, a creative director and singer. Their daughter, Maesha Soi, represents the next generation of their creative legacy.
