Jamie Macdougall



Jamie Macdougall is a Visual Effects Supervisor at Rising Sun Pictures, where he has worked since joining the studio in 2018. Jamie initially joined Rising Sun Pictures as an Asset Supervisor, where his work on The Eight Hundred (2020) earned a nomination at the 2021 Visual Effects Society Awards for Outstanding Created Environment in a Photoreal Feature, specifically for the "Shanghai Warehouse District" sequence, shared with Julian Hutchens, Mark Honer, and David Pekarek. He subsequently served as CG Supervisor on Turandot and Jungle Cruise (2021), during which he developed large-scale environment toolsets that were later leveraged on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021). In August 2021, he was promoted to Visual Effects Supervisor, a role in which he has overseen work on projects including Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023), Andor (2022), The Marvels (2023), Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), Better Man (2024), The Parenting (2024), The Roses (2025), and Play Dirty (2025). His work has been recognised by the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts, receiving an AACTA Award nomination in 2021 for Best Visual Effects or Animation for Jungle Cruise (2021), shared with Jim Berney, Jake Morrison, J.D. Schwalm, Marla Neto Henshaw, and Malte Sarnes. He was also nominated in 2024 for Best Visual Effects or Animation for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023), alongside Jesse James Chisholm, Fiona Campbell Westgate, Rachel Copp, and Paul Corbould. Before Rising Sun Pictures, Jamie worked at Method Studios in Sydney as an Asset Supervisor on Skyscraper (2018) and Outlaw King (2018). Earlier in his career, he held senior surfacing and materials roles at Animal Logic on The Lego Batman Movie (2017) and The Lego Ninjago Movie (2017), and at Blue Sky Studios in Connecticut on Epic (2013), Rio 2 (2014), The Peanuts Movie (2015), and Ice Age: Collision Course (2016). His Vancouver-based experience includes work at Image Engine on The Thing (2011), Atmosphere Visual Effects on Chronicle (2012) and Family Guy (1999–), and Leviathan Studios on Eureka Season 4 (2010) and Avarice (2011). Jamie's early career was rooted in television, advertising, and post-production across Australia, New Zealand, and Indonesia, contributing to projects such as H2O: Just Add Water (2006–2010), Zeke's Pad (2008), The Troop (2009–2011), and numerous commercial campaigns for international clients. He began his professional journey after studying Art and Design (Honours) at Curtin University, following his education at Albany Senior High School.
