Political and public activities: Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Azerbaijan SSR (1979-1983); Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Byelorussian SSR (1985-1987); Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR (1987-1989); Delegate to the XIX Conference of the CPSU (1988); People's Deputy of Russia (1990-1993); Advisor to the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation (1993); Delegate to the XXV Congress of the Communist Party of Ukraine; Delegate to the XXVIII Congress of the CPSU; Chairman of the International Association "Cadet Brotherhood" (2006-2009).
